Poem by Karina Fiorini.

————————–Rapa Nui,
————————–the land
————————–is still

————————–ashen yesterdays
————————–forgotten
————————–by todays

————————–speak of bird turned
————————–man turned bird

—————————————————————–Rapa Nui
—————————————————————–the sea
—————————————————————–is still

—————————————————————–small heads
—————————————————————–taper
—————————————————————–in big heads

—————————————————————–spaces barren
—————————————————————–cry creeds of gulls

—————————————————————————————————–Rapa Nui
—————————————————————————————————–the sky
—————————————————————————————————–is still

—————————————————————————————————–sacred echos
—————————————————————————————————–call
—————————————————————————————————–in beds of reef

—————————————————————————————————–crests murmur
—————————————————————————————————–the tussle of tales

Karina’s roots spring out of geography and sustainable development. She is now studying literature whilst working on a collection of poems. Fragments, teasing rhythms and subtle colours mark her poetry.
